Here are the <\/span><b>CNESST<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> safety rules regarding clearance during ladder use.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1217 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/protecmi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023benoit-rousseau-dsc03671-web-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"303\" height=\"455\" \/><\/span><\/h2>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Prevention of Falls from Height<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether it\u2019s for roof repair, shingle installation, adding a ventilation device, installing flashing, gutter maintenance, or even hanging Christmas lights, the CNESST safety rules for work at height should automatically be applied. The same applies for plumbing or electrical work on the roof. <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Among these rules is the clearance. There are three types of clearance to respect during work at height:<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clearance Around the Ladder<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On construction sites, when workers climb onto a roof using a ladder, the base must be surrounded by a safety barrier all around, or another worker must monitor the ladder so that a clearance space is respected around it. This colleague can also hold the base of the ladder and monitor the clearance zone around it.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><img decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-1229 aligncenter\" src=\"http:\/\/protecmi.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/09\/2023benoit-rousseau-dsc03877-web-200x300.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"293\" height=\"440\" \/><\/span><\/h3>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clearance Between the Wall and the Ladder<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a ladder is leaned against a wall, there must be a clearance between the wall and the ladder. According to CNESST safety rules for\u00a0 work at a height of more that 3 meters, the ladder must be held in place by a <\/span><b>ladder stabilizer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> designed for this purpose. The <\/span><b>ladder stabilizer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is installed on the back of the ladder (at the top) to firmly immobilize it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Using an <\/span><b>aluminum<\/b> <b>ladder stabilizer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (like the <\/span><b>PROTECMI<\/b> <b>ladder stabilizer<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) allows the ladder to be secured to the wall, while leaving a space of 12 inches <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">[db1] <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">between it and the wall (or roof edge). This protects the gutters and roof edge, while offering freedom of movement during work. Note that the ladder must extend at least 35 inches beyond the roof edge.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clearance on the Roof<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When work is performed on the roof in a workplace (construction sites), the employer must install guardrails to create sufficient clearance space, eliminating any risk of falling from height (safety perimeter).
